Home > Personalized Learning

Personalized learning has the potential to refocus learning on the individual rather than the institution. The cLc supports schools in removing the traditional barriers to learning such as the classroom walls and the defined school day, allowing the system to align more closely to the individual students' needs as opposed to traditional practices whereby the learner is required to conform to the system. It allows learners to belong to multiple communities where they can be supported by the people best able to meet their needs from within and beyond the traditional school community.

Ownership of learning
Personalized learning using the cLc is about tailoring education to the individual's needs, interest and aptitude, giving children a degree of ownership of the learning process and affording them the opportunity to have a voice and a choice with regard to learning whilst at the same time encouraging learners to take greater responsibility for their own learning in order to ensure that every child reaches their full potential.

Developing empowered autonomous learners
Giving pupils their own dedicated learning space, whether for an individual pupil using their ePortfolio, personal home-space, blogs, wikis or forums, or for a particular interest or ability group by creating additional communities, adds a new dimension and level of ownership to the personal learning process; essential for developing empowered autonomous learners.
