First LAs to procure under new Becta Framework

Wokingham, Portsmouth and States of Jersey are first to procure following the new Becta Framework

Wokingham and Portsmouth Local Authorities and the States of Jerse selecte UniServity's 'cLc' Learning Platform as their Learning Platform partner.

Friday 15 June 2007: UniServity, the market leader in Learning Platform solutions, has won the first Learning Platform Local Authority (LA) contracts under the new Becta Learning Platform Procurement Framework.

Becta, the ICT arm of the DfES, launched the Learning Platform Procurement Framework in January 2007. UniServity is one of just ten providers from whom Local Authorities (LAs) can, with confidence, procure Learning Platforms.

After a bidding process, Wokingham LA, Portsmouth LA and The States of Jersey selected UniServity as their Learning Platform provider of choice, with over 170 schools and nearly 100,000 primary, secondary and SEN learners benefiting from an enriched and collaborative learning experience.

Paul Heinrich, ICT advisor, Portsmouth City Council stated: "The UniServity 'cLc' (Connected Learning Community) Learning Platform is Portsmouth's choice for a whole range of reasons. Users of all ages and abilities will benefit from the quality, flexibility and personalisation functions of the easy to use graphical interface. However, the main strength is UniServity's strong focus on Pedagogy and institutional development, reflected in an outstanding training and support package."

Alan Wood, CEO, UniServity, commented: "UniServity is passionate and driven to transform and improve learning. We have developed a Learning Platform that is already adopted and used by schools all over the world. Today, over 1 million teachers and learners are benefiting from innovative and collaborative learning experiences. It's truly a global connected learning community."

UniServity is proud to be able to point at hundreds of real life examples of teachers and schools transforming and improving learning opportunities for their learners using their cLc (Connected Learning Community) Learning Platform. The barriers to learning are being removed.
