Secondary schools global collaboration

Over 800 secondary schools globally are now using the UniServity cLc Learning Platform to work together on collaborative projects

Tuesday 17th October 2007: UniServity is delighted to announce that it has reached a new milestone with over 800 secondary schools in 12 countries now using the UniServity cLc (Connected Learning Community) Learning Platform. In England alone, UniServity is the Learning Platform partner of choice to nearly 600 secondary schools.

UniServity is currently involved in a number of groundbreaking transformational projects involving schools in China, Hong Kong, Thailand, and also with both the British Council and the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust in the UK.

'Towards the Olympics' is a collaborative project between over 70 secondary schools in the UK, Hong Kong and China. 134 UK SSAT secondary school pupils and teachers are currently on a 10-day educational visit to Beijing, China, and joined by over 500 pupils from Hong Kong and China. The 'Towards the Olympic' visit brings together pupils who are working collaboratively on the project, which is themed around the Olympic Ideals. Pupils have the opportunity, using the UniServity cLc, to work on a range of learning themes from Olympic Logo and Stadium design, event planning, through to the cultural impact of the Games.

'Climate Cool' in a new collaborative project between UniServity, the British Council and schools from across the globe. The project enables pupils to use online forums, personalised workspaces and blogs, to discuss and develop work relating to the changing global climate and environmental, cultural and economic implications we face.

Alan Wood, CEO, UniServity, commneted: "We are extremely proud to be able to point at hundreds of examples where the UniServity cLc is opening up new and engaging learning opportunities for teachers and students. These projects are offering authentic learning experiences and truly breaking down barriers to learning for children and young people."
